For the deceased: Riwo Sangchö
Prayer requests for the recently deceased are included in the daily Riwo Sangchö (Mountain Smoke Offering) practice until the 49th day after their death. If the person passed away more than 49 days ago, prayers are offered for three consecutive days. The period of 49 days reflects the Buddhist understanding that the consciousness of the deceased transitions through intermediate states during this time before moving on to its next existence.
